Bergsma Barn - Issaquah Valley Dairy

This photo shows how the Bergsma Family Barn looked in its "Hay Day" - having been electronically re-colored by historian David Horrocks.  The family farm was sold to George Rowley Sr. in the late 1960's, and the property became home to the many self-storage units that pervade the west side of the Valley today.  The barn was located just south and west of the current "Burger King".  It was painted brown and labeled "Boat Shop" for years before being removed in 1999 in anticipation of the construction of the upcoming Hyla Crossing office development.  Pioneers Henry Bergsma and his son Bill Bergsma will be depicted in a full size bronze statue to be placed prominently on the site.  David Bangs, June 2000
