who remember! The meetings start at 7pm at the Historic Railroad Depot,
and last an hour to an hour and a half.

Video Night
Fish
Tales is a new 35 minute about the history of fish and fishing in
King County. Long-time residents from all over the county, including
Issaquah residents Eric Erickson and Bill Conley, discuss fishing as it
was in earlier years. King County produced this video to encourage
watershed conservation.
The Vision of Pickering Farm is a 7 minute
video created by Jane Archer (Issaquah Park Board member) and her son
with input from many citizens of Issaquah and members of the Citizen's
Farm Advisory Committee. This excellent video presents the vision
of what the historic farm will look like in the future.

Local
author Bette Filley will be delivering a presentation on Mount Rainier.
Bette is the author of "The Big Fact Book about Mount Rainier" and
"Discovering the Wonders of the Wonderland Trail Encircling Mount
Rainier." Join us to learn more about the majestic peak that leant
its name to one of our main streets.

Remembering the Casey Jones Special
A video of one of the three Casey Jones Special
Passenger Train rides from Seattle to North Bend will be shown. The three
Casey Jones Specials were the last Steam Powered Passenger trains through
Issaquah. The first Casey
Jones Excursion went through Issaquah on June 29, 1957, the second on
December 6, 1959 and the last on
June 9, 1968. All three were round trips from Seattle to North Bend
Railroad Crossing Safety
Wayne Langbehn, a retired railroad conductor with 30
years service on the Seattle-Portland Union Pacific
run will present Operation LifeSaver Program, Key Safety "Tips at
Highway-Rail Grade Crossings."
The Operation Life Saver Program (the three L's) Look, Listen & Live is
the new version of the old Stop, Look
and Listen, safety program presented for many years. A Brand New Video on
railroad crossing safety
will be shown as part of the program.

New Memory Books
The program will feature a reading of excerpts from our
new book "Preserving the Stories of Issaquah"
Come hear the stories and recollections of long time
Issaquah Residents. It includes tales of first cars, mining, The
Depression, school days, earthquakes, and other fond recollections of
earlier days in Issaquah.

Life Along The Tracks
This presentation will be a video viewing of Life Along
the Tracks, an oral history project about the Milwaukee Railroad produced
by our neighbors to the east at the Snoqualmie Valley Historical Society.
The presentation will follow a business meeting wherein
IHS members will elect new board members and approve revised by-laws.

This event will feature yummy desserts, live music,
clowns, and other merriment. Join us as we honor the volunteers who make

Our December History Program will feature a presentation
by Linn Emrich, former operator of the ISSAQUAH SKYPORT.
Board Meetings
Board Meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month at 7 PM at the Historic Railroad Depot.
These meetings are open to the public, although participation is limited to
Board members and those who have been placed on the agenda.
Board Meetings during 2001 are scheduled on the

Wednesday, July 4th: Both museums will be open and the
Issaquah Valley Trolley
will be offering convenient rides through town along our historic railroad

Issaquah Salmon Days Festival - October 6th and 7th

return of salmon to our lakes, streams, and downtown hatchery every fall, with a
weekend of nonstop activities. Arts, Crafts, Food, Live Entertainment,

Both the Depot and Gilman Town Hall Museums will be open throughout Salmon
Days and the
Issaquah Valley Trolley
will be offering rides between the Depot and Front Street.

Archaeology ID Day - October 27th
October is Washington State Archaeology Month! We will host our second annual
ARCHAEOLOGY ID DAY at the Depot on October 27, 12 PM—3 PM. Trained
archaeologists Paula Johnson and Amy Dugar will be on hand to identify any
artifacts you have stored in an old cigar box, and to share general information
about archaeology in our area. (Please note that archaeological artifacts are
objects found buried or on the ground, as opposed to antiques.) This event is
free!
Memoir Writing Workshop - November 3rd
On Saturday, November 3, Cathy Fulton of Capturing Memories, will lead a
day-long memoir-writing workshop entitled THE ERAS OF MY LIFE. What a great
