Explore some of Issaquah’s hidden history on this easy stroll through the historic downtown. A museum guide will lead participants on a walk through the history of Issaquah, from the Native Americans who first lived in the area up to Issaquah’s growth into a small town, circa 1925. You’ll hear about how changes in transportation impacted Issaquah’s growth, and what life was like in a town of just 1,000 people.

GiveBIG 2018

On Wednesday, May 9, the Seattle Foundation will host GiveBIG, a community-wide day of giving. Last year during GiveBIG, you raised $3,500 to support the Issaquah History Museums preservation and education work.

This year, we hope to raise $5,000 — enough to cover the cost of storing the Issaquah Press until space is available for them at the IHM.

High Point Logging Hike

About 125 years ago, loggers began stripping the mountains around Issaquah in earnest to support the coal mining industry and a construction boom in neighboring towns. The mountain is now a popular hiking destination, and lush growth obscures much of the mountain's storied past from all but history sleuths. Join Tom Anderson for a trip into Tiger Mountain's past; it will be a day of tales and surprises, along with the unique scenery that draws hikers to the Issaquah Alps.

Tiger Mountain Pic - New

Coal mining, crime, and deception were alive and well on Tiger Mountain, just a few miles south of downtown Issaquah, in the early 20th century. Honest coal miners mixed with henchmen and bunko artists to create a set of colorful stories -- which you can hear as you explore the original setting of the events.
