What is a memorial gift?
A memorial gift is a donation — large or small — made to commemorate a beloved friend or family member who has passed away. Some survivors specifically request that mourners make memorial gifts. In other cases, friends and family may make a memorial gift of their own accord.

How does the Issaquah Historical Society use memorial gifts?
All memorial gift donations go into our endowment fund. Donations to the fund are invested and the resulting interest is used for operating expenses. In this way, your remembrance of a beloved friend or family member becomes a lasting gift for the community that we serve. By donating to the Issaquah Historical Society’s endowment, you ensure its ability to bring Issaquah’s history to life for many decades to come.

How can I make a memorial gift?
Simply send the gift to the Issaquah Historical Society with a short note indicating who the gift commemorates. We will send notification of your gift (although not the amount) to the deceased’s spouse or children. We will also send an acknowledgement of the gift to you, and recognize your gift in our newsletter. Please let us know if you’d like your gift to remain anonymous.

I would like to arrange for memorial gifts to be made in honor of a recently deceased loved one. How can I do this?
The best way to suggest memorial gifts be made is to mention it in your loved one’s obituary. If you can, include the Issaquah Historical Society’s address so that people will know where to send their gift. We can also provide additional copies of this brochure in order to make them available at the funeral. If you can, please let us know that you plan to request memorial gifts
